07 May Dialogue with the deaf
Today, we just wanted to publish an interesting quote. Have a look:
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
George Bernard Shaw from brainyquote.com
We think that this quote is really important, and shows today’s reality.
Indeed, nowadays we have forgotten the most important thing in communication : LISTENING. A good communicator, is the one who listens .In fact all is in the proportions – How many ears do we have? TWO – How many mouth do we have ? ONE – here is the answer; you should listen more than you talk.
We do not listen anymore, we cherry pick – so we hear what we want to hear judge and have the illusion that we understand others.
But did you really listen to him/her?
Have you TRULY understood?
Most of the time, we have the illusion that the communication has occurred. We are happy and satisfied…why we would not be…we have communicated alone… Or even in the word “communication” there is the word “common” – a common topic , a common interest, that is there to be shared, brainstormed, and agreed.
In fact there are a total of 6 traps in communication:
between: What I want to say , What I say and How I express (3)
between: What he hears , What he understands and How he really perceives (3)
A dialogue with the deaf is not communication, so open your mind, focus on what the other is saying, leave your judgments behind you and you will be able to avoid the illusion.
Let’s try a real communication!! 😀
