This week’s Tip Of The Week will shed some light on meeting and greeting new people. Whether it is for business or just a social contact, the first impression on another individual is a keystone to a successful relationship and can pave the way to either disaster or prosperity. When meeting and greeting with a new individual always remember to talk less and listen more. To gain a great first impression, remember to focus LESS on your interests and to listen MORE to the interests of the other individual. Going forward in the conversation, encourage the other individual to talk more and make an active effort to show sincere interest in what they have to say. Showing sincere interest in this other person will get them on your side and make for a successful first meeting. Lastly, create a personal system that allows you to remember others names. Being able to recall a person’s name after a brief meeting will prove to be a most useful tool when building up your career or business. Many conversationalists recommend using a new contacts name three times during an initial conversation. Using both these tools will provide a solid foundation for a new contact and help facilitate a successful relationship.
